What is the 4th of July all about?

Now that you know all about the details on Coral Springs’ 4th of July celebration, I thought I’d provide a little history and make you think a little about what it really means to have one’s independence, to be free.

You probably don’t think about it much, but it really is a big deal, being free, that is.  It’s one of those things, as Americans, that you take for granted, as it’s just the way it is here living in the United States. Unfortunately, we take way too many things for granted and independence is just one of many things. What we take for granted is a whole other article to elaborate on, I’m sure you’d agree.

We first gained our independence on Independence Day, July 4th, 1776 when we declared independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain, now known as the United Kingdom. It’s a federal holiday here in the United States and there are so many ways in which to celebrate; from fireworks, parades, picnics, family & friend gatherings, and so much more. The day is filled with patriotic, flag waving displays. Great ways to thank our lucky stars and stripes!  Enjoy your 4th of July!
